Employment and Career Counselling Coordinator:

Reporting to the Education Director, and/or Operations Manager the Adult Educator is responsible for performing the following aspects of this position:

  • Open up the employment center daily at 8:30am
  • Secure the employment center and property at the end of each day.
  •  Promote the employment center within the community.
  • Organize recording, filing of all documents, associated with the position of Employment and Career Counselling Coordinator
  • Ensure that all documents pertaining employment center clients are under clear, identifiable labels and placed in a secured cabinet.
  • Participate in community affairs.
  • Keep informed of developments in the field by attending seminars, workshops, etc.
  • Establish good rapport with all staff and maintain a friendly environment creating a team that works together.
  • Strive to ensure that native heritage, culture, and language is incorporated throughout the program where possible.
  • Provide leadership to the clients.
  • Become familiar with the Employee Policy Manual so that all requirements are met.
  • Assist the Director in preparation of the budget for the employment center program.
  • Ensure supplies are ordered.
  • Complete all required reports.
  • Conduct needs assessment analysis for each participant.
  • Develop career plans of action for each participant.
  • Maintain the required participant progress documentation.
  • Keep attendance records for online as well as in class attendance.
  • Create an employment center environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the clients.
  • Provide guidance and counselling to students with emphasis on continued progress.
  • Keep students up to date on opportunities in the trades, careers, employment opportunities and other postsecondary programs.
  • Help coordinate training programs offered to adults in the community that might not be in the grade 10-12 stream such as, but not limited to, First Aid level 1, Flagging, Carpentry, etc.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Education Director and or Operations Manager.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Support all students in the adult program getting prepared for the course requirements for post-secondary programs.
  • Attend training workshops as required.
  • Must be organized and have attention to detail
  • Proficient in phone calls and managing online communication.
  • Other duties not mentioned can be assigned.

Accountability:

This person reports to and works under the direction of the Education Director of the Ulkatcho First Nation.
